Standards and Secure Systems Development
Is Secure Systems Development an art or a science? If the former, there is no place for Standards. If the latter, then, like any engineering discipline, it is possible to distil and reuse the existing best practice of others. It is true that there are books and pattern catalogues that deal with secure systems engineering, but there is little consensus over what works and what doesn’t, and little evidence of widespread adoption outside their originating organisations. ISO/IEC TR 29193, secure system engineering principles and techniques, is a new Technical Report being produced by ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) in an attempt to address this gap in the market. Learn how you can participate in its development.
